DAVI MAV 3 ROLL VARIBLE AXIS TECHNOLOGY PLATE ROLL RANGE
Davi MAV Plate Roll
The Davi MAV range of plate roll machines are designed to form metal on very thick plate, with a range of thicknesses of approximately 120 mm through to 300 mm, while larger machines are possible to roll thicker plates in this 3-roll range. The MAV machine has a sturdy frame design, which has been incorporated into the centre of the frame, allowing its working height to be reduced and gain extra capacity for a smaller machine. As one of the most innovating and revolutionary 3 roll configurations on the market today, with a leading geometry design, it is unique. All three rolls move and can be positioned independently, enabling the best leverage possible. As the side rolls can be positioned virtually beneath the top roller, the flat end is at a minimum. Should you require repeatability, enhanced productivity on very thick plate, then the variable axis 3 roll technology is the technology of choice.
MAV Variable Axis Rolling Sequence
(1) The side rolls move out and the top roll moves down. (2) Pre-bending position the right-side roll moves fully out, and the left roll moves fully in, positioned beneath the top roller similar to the principles of a four roll machine. Hence minimum flat end. (3) The top roll holds the plate in position and the right roll pre-bends the plate. (4) The pre-bend cycle commences. (5) The top roller lifts to release the plate. (6) The plate is driven backwards. (7) Pre-bending position the left-side roll moves fully out, and the right roll moves fully in, positioned beneath the top roller, similar to the principles of a four roll machine. Hence minimum flat end. (8) The pre-bending of the other side commences. (9) All rolls move to complete pre-bending. (10) All rolls move to roll the product.
Compact Sturdy Design
The Davi MAV and MCB ranges have been redesigned after analysing the steel structures of its plate rolls. Using FEM technology, the frames were studied, resulting in this redesign. The redesign decreases stress on the frame allowing smaller machines to roll a higher capacity plate. Many other benefits were realised, the machine’s working height could be reduced and one major advantage, it allowed Davi to produce new machines that were capable of rolling much thicker plate than it could achieve previously. Due to these revolutionary breakthroughs the yoke on the MAV’s can move up and down with the top roll.

To complete the range of Davi machines, there is the traditional 3 roll double pinch pyramid plate roll. Continued to be produced by Davi the machine is sturdy in design as would be expected from the leading manufacturer, but they have also incorporated many of the new features, available on the newer ranges. Therefore, this traditional plate roll machine has more reliable systems to help roll plate more accurately, they include the planetary driven side rolls, independently driven rolls, and planetary bearings are a few to name, making this older design into a more modern alternative.
Rolling Sequency of MCO
As with traditional 3 roll pyramid plate rolls, the Davi machine follow suit in the rolling process. Both ends are pre-bent followed by the rolling process.

Due to all three rolls being driven and the high torque that can be gained, the plate does not slip during the rolling process.
